This garden was completely redesigned after the original house was demolished and a new house was built on site. Our design entailed preserving the original lava rocks and existing trees. We sculpted the land to create more dramatic scenery and carefully selected new vegetation to introduce to the site, including native species to the area to create a beautiful and colorful plant palette. The project was divided into four areas:
a) A fire pit, located at the highest point of the property, sheltered by existing trees, creating the perfect place to gather in a peaceful spot with the best view towards the main garden and the house.
b) A chef's vegetable garden, made by reusing reclaimed train track wood to build planters.
c) The main open garden surrounded by the house.
d) And the lava rock garden, in a smaller private space next to the library.
